BIOGRAPHY


Reverend Anthony Washington

Rev. Anthony Washington was born in Cayce, South Carolina to the late Abraham Washington and Thedora B. Washington. He has three brothers and four sisters. Rev. Washington is married to the former Mildred Lynn Smith. They have one daughter (Bridgett) and one son (Terrence). They are the proud grandparents of seven grandchildren (three granddaughters and four grandsons).


Rev. Washington received his High School Diploma from Airport High School in West Columbia and his Associate Degree from Midland Technical College. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion from Allen University and his Master of Arts Degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Columbia International University.


Rev. Washington received his call to the ministry in September 1986 under the leadership of Rev. M. Charmaine Ragin at Mt. Pisgah AME in Dixiana, SC. He is proud to have had his older brother follow him into the ministry. Both brothers were licensed by Presiding Elder Clark R. Hawthorne. Rev. Washington was ordained an Itinerant Deacon and Elder under Bishop Frederick Calhoun James.


Rev. Anthony Washington has served as pastor of the following churches: New St. Philip Circuit, Mill Creek, St. Luke (Lancaster District), Trinity, Pleasant Grove, Mt. Hebron, and Jeter Chapel (Newberry District). He also served as the coordinator of the Newberry Chapter Sons of Allen. In addition, he was instrumental in implementing a feeding ministry and an adult literacy ministry in the Newberry area. Rev. Washington is currently serving as the pastor of St. Peter AME Church, North, SC in the Wateree District.​
